Terms of Use

These terms set the conditions for using Duarte Residents Directory. By accessing the service, you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

1. What This Website Is

Duarte Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections associated with Duarte, Los Angeles County, and California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with any city, county, state, federal, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it or anything reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another person.
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order.
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act.
  • Make a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the content at scale.
  • Interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the service.

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

The service is not a consumer reporting agency as that term is defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following. Nothing on these pages, and nothing returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. No information may be used to judge eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose governed by the FCRA.

4. Links to Outside Services

Government portals, libraries, archives, courts, and sponsored search tools have their own terms, fees, availability, and privacy practices. Duarte Residents Directory does not control those outside services and is not responsible for their content or data handling.

5. No Warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that a page, link, fee, coverage year, portal, record description, or search result is accurate, complete, current, or available at every moment.

6. Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of the service or a linked resource, including a decision made from a record found through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the operators harmless from claims, demands, losses, and costs, including reasonable attorney fees, that arise from misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short excerpt with attribution is welcome. Republishing full pages or systematically copying content is not permitted without written permission.

9. Changes to These Terms

Updated terms may be posted here. Continued use after a change is posted means that the revised terms apply to later use.

10. Cutting Off Access

Access may be blocked or restricted for a user who violates these terms, abuses the service, threatens safety, or interferes with operation. Restriction may occur without advance notice where necessary.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. California's public-records framework is the California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 and following. That statute governs identifiable records held by state and local agencies; it does not make this private reference a custodian of Duarte or Los Angeles County records.

12. Severability

If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect to the extent allowed by law.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
